Finally! I have been waiting to share my weight loss and fitness transformation and I am so excited to give YOU my best tips!
Lets FINALLY get that weight off….and KEEP it off!
Tip 1. Stop over-thinking! Seriously…stop. Diet can be so basic let’s not turn it into some fat-free, low-carb, macro, calorie counting beast that must be conquered. Food is good, YES FOOD IS GOOD! Look at food as fuel, as stuff we need to do what we love and feel good doing it. Don’t count those calories, relax!
Tip 2. Living bodies need living food. BASIC right!? The majority of our food has been coming in pre-packaged, pre-made boxes and bags and it needs to stop. The majority of our food needs to be coming from a living source (notice I did not say 100%, I have found it impossible to turn down a snickers at Halloween) Was your food alive? Did it grow, live?
My diet consists of 90%
- Plants (veggies, fruits..all types of varieties, cooked and raw)
- Animals – chicken, steak, turkey, lean meats, sea food
- Nuts & Seeds – I love nut spreads and butters, mostly raw, some roasted
- Oils- coconut oil, olive oil, sunflower and almond oil
- Grains (limited) oatmeal, quinoa, rice, whole grain
The other %10
- protein shakes (plant and animal protein varieties)
- some cheat food (waffles, wine..hey I gotta live a little)
My diet DOES NOT consist of
- food that is prepackaged
- food from boxes
- refined sugar, any added sugar for that matter, corn syrups as well
- processed foods
- ingredients I can’t pronounce
- DAIRY (ok, I have cheese now and then but no milk or butter or cream)
Tip 3. Don’t go hungry! If you want to eat then do it! I don’t believe we should eat less and workout more. We should workout more…but eat more too. If you are hungry eat veggies, raw stuff, a handful of raw nuts. Make a smoothie, have a sweet potato, how about an avocado? We cannot stick to a diet that leaves us feeling hungry, you would be surprised how much healthy food we can eat and not get overweight.
Tip 3. Have breakfast! An easy rule, 30 in 30! Have 30 g of protein the first 3o minutes of your day. I am the first to admit I’m not a fan of breakfast. That’s where protein shakes and smoothies come in handy for me! Some days I only get about 20-25 g in my first meal but I always try for 30. We need to break our fast from the night and starting off with protein is a great way to start! Protein and some carbs will give you energy and keep you feeling full.
Tip 4. Sleep- sleep affects your metabolism and basically your life. I don’t know about you but when I don’t get enough sleep I don’t feel well, and my inner-bitch seems to come out in full force. We need to sleep to function, use our food as fuel and just be nicer:) Sleep is good my friends!
Tip 5. Prep! Make snacks, small meals, what ever you need to keep your self fed during the day. I feel my biggest struggle is when I don’t have food on hand and I start to get hungry then hangry and before I know it I’m at the drive-through ordering half the menu. Keeping food in my car and bag keeps me on track and feeling well. Set aside 30 minutes to an hour to come up with some tasty and nutritious treats!
